Sara specializes in private parent consulting for parents of 0-8 year olds struggling with their child’s behavior, with a family transition such as a new sibling or health concern/hospitalization affecting a child or adult family member, preparation for a parents' separation/divorce, or simply looking for information on supporting their child’s optimal development. Through developmental guidance and specific interventions, Sara works with parents to promote healthy coping behaviors for their child, create tools for nurturing growth, and successful parenting skills that benefit and enrich the entire family.
HOW SUPPORT SERVICES WORK:
• Initial 10-15 minute phone consultation (no charge) – This consult allows us to determine if my Child Life services are a fit for you and your child’s needs, along with a brief assessment of your needs, your child’s background and your goals as a parent.
• First appointment – The first appointment is 60 minutes and allows us an in-depth review of your intake paperwork regarding your child’s history and your current concerns. We will then discuss short-term and long term goals and my role as a guide in providing a framework to meet those goals.
• Follow-Up Appointments - Subsequent appointments are 50 minutes and will provide the opportunity to review previous week’s action plans, new changes, improvements or set-backs and discussion around developmental expectations to help set attainable goals for your child as well as provide you with a foundation for how to best connect with your child based on “where they are at”. We will monitor progress closely and continue with additional appointments until you feel your parenting goals have been met and you have sufficient tools going forward. Most parents work with me anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks but each child and family situation is unique.
My clients report a greater understanding of their child’s development, a sense of affirmation on what to expect regarding behavior and a sense of calm and confidence about their parenting abilities after our collaborative work together. Most importantly they express a renewed sense of connection with their child and an ability to apply the solutions and knowledge they gained to new situations in their parenting journey. I am passionate about helping children and parents nurture optimal relationships and development in these critical early years so they may have a solid foundation to build from for the years ahead. It is a true honor to be a part of so many parents’ lives.
